Yesterday was the official opening of the world famous Keukenhof ! Along with the international press we were invited to join this very special event. 2019 marks the 70th year that these famous bulb gardens have opened to the general public. Compared to last year when the gardens suffered from a very cold spell, there were lots of flowers to be seen! We love attending this event because it’s a unique opportunity to photograph the garden without any people! During the next 8 weeks about 1.5 million (yes MILLION) people are expected to visit this famous bulb garden. The theme this year is “Flower Power”: a 60s and 70s floral retrospective. Keukenhof is an amazing garden behind which there are lots of interesting stories to be told. Just how do they keep so many bulbs in flower for a period of eight weeks, year after year? Did you know the lawns of the Keukenhof are seeded every year, and that only annual grass seeds are used? Our tour “Tulip Gardens: The Keukenhof, Bloemencorso and Private Gardens in the Netherlands” for this year is now full. We will run this tour again in 2020 so please do visit our website for dates and itinerary.
