Isole di Brissago are two small islands located in Lake Maggiore, Switzerland. The islands are known for their beautiful gardens, which feature a wide variety of plants and flowers from around the world. The gardens are home to over 2,000 species of plants, including palms, cypresses, and magnolias, as well as a variety of fruit trees. The larger of the two islands, Isola Grande, is home to a palace, called the Villa Barbella, which is open to the public and features a collection of art and antiques. The smaller island, Isola Piccola, is a nature reserve and is home to a variety of plant and animal species. The Isole di Brissago are a popular tourist destination in the Lake Maggiore region and are easily accessible by boat from the town of Brissago.
We visit Isole di Brassago on our tour of the Gardens of the Italian Lakes Como & Maggiore – 2023.
